Description
Designed by AGOBAY in close collaboration with British green-wood carver Samuel Alexander, this matcha pitcher holds the exact volume of water required for one cup of matcha. It has been freehand-carved from freshly felled walnut. Each pitcher is made with patience and care in Samuel’s open-air workshop in rural Czechia, through a multi-step process over more than six weeks.

AGOBAY Showroom ZurichAs one of the first pieces in our exclusive series of collaborative creations, this walnut matcha pitcher holds the exact volume of water, 80ml, required for one cup of matcha, marked by a measurement indicator on the inside. It also features a delicate spout for pouring into your matcha bowl during your tea ceremony or everyday matcha ritual.
Samuel slowly and patiently makes his collections – which he calls ‘harvests’, as they appear to have grown organically – from his open-air workshop among the fruit trees at home in rural Czechia. Involving more than 10 steps, each piece begins with an initial split in the log, undergoes a two-week drying process, six coats of natural urushi lacquer, which is derived from tree sap, and a month-long curing stage. It is a practice Samuel describes as patient and meditative.
Volume 80ml, weight 72g, height 65mm, diameter 90mm
Walnut wood, urushi lacquer
Handwash your matcha pitcher with warm water only, without soap. Leave it to dry upside down so that water doesn’t pool for long periods.
