KAIKADO
Handmade tea caddies from Kyoto
Founded in Kyoto in 1875, Kaikado is renowned for its exquisite handmade chazutsu tea caddies (‘cha’ means tea, ‘zutsu’ means canister). Crafted through a century-old process that transforms metal sheets into lustrous containers over the course of more than 130 steps, these creations are more than simply beautiful objects; their airtight design serves an enduring function, protecting tea leaves, coffee beans and other essentials from moisture and humidity. As they age, they acquire a patina that changes their colouring, turning them into unique pieces that add a subtle brass touch to your kitchen or living area.
